Year 5 finished their Community Kids project this afternoon. This is a 4-week programme of citizenship lessons that is delivered to local primary schools by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing and aims to teach children about their role in keeping their community a happy and safe place for people to live in. A big thank you to all the people who kindly gave up their time to discuss their role in helping the neighbourhood, including Rev. Wall and Tom L's dad.

Year 5 gave their class assembly this morning all about taking part in the 'Community Kids' project. They talked about how they had walked around Langley to look at the work being done to improve the neighbourhood and how they had interviewed various important local people to find out about their roles in helping to keep the community a nice place to live in.

One sunny beautiful day Leah Katie Guiltier and Malaise and Maeve went to the beach they saw the ice-cream van so they went to get a lovely delicious ice-cream and they saw a wonderful shop that had sun glasses sand bucket a spade and a beautiful costume and get a lovely shorts and tea shirt and dresses and lots more because they have been saving up for a while.

Slowly hidden in the shadows I saw something move out of the corner of my eye! I didn't even want to turn round but sadly it whizzed past me. I was so scared and crying I didn't know what to do. My mum and sisters were upstairs on the computer. The blue mouse just turned into a claw and struck my mum straight in the neck, like an arrow in the middle of a target. She was dripping with blood and Scarlett and Grace started crying. Dad was at work and I couldn't find the phone. Then I saw...... BLUE BLOODED ZOMBIES and behind them there were an army of blood - sucking vampires. So I ran to a bus stop with my sisters. The tires were as big as a tractor but it was the only bus for ages. My fare was £2.00 and my sisters were free. We got on the bus and it went over 50mph. We fell over as the bus drove around. Suddenly we realised that the passengers had turned into decaying corpses. The smell was horrendous. The bus stopped and the street was called SCALLY STREET full of bony skeletons, but they ignored us so we just carried on walking frightened. The scene changed and we were on a tropical island. Although it was an island it just started to rain! We can only drink and eat coconuts. We found a cottage so we had coconut tea with some biscuits we found. Scarlett and Grace said '' Where’s Mummy and Daddy?'' I said '' Mum has gone and I don’t know where Dad and Nana are.
Dad and Nana just turned up. So we lived in a cottage with Dad Nana, Scarlett and Grace. Every night we prayed and we lived still uncomfortable in our minds that the zombies could return!
So you know my made up story what do you think?
Clare
The lovely, light blue sea had lovely colorful fish and lovely, shiny silver dolphins swimming in it. I jumped in with my swimming costume on and swam with the dolphins.

BANG! A loud noise came from the kitchen downstairs, “What was that?" I whispered to my self. It was a dark, scary, cold night and I was all wrapped up in my bed when suddenly I heard footsteps. They were coming closer to my room, I was petrified, terrified, scared, I didn't know what to do and my mum and dad had gone out for a drink. I was all on my own with these footsteps coming closer and closer to me what would I do?
Anna
As fast as a beat of a butterfly's wings I sprinted rapidly across the forest floor. The mud squelched as loud as a tornado under my feet and the wind flew heavily in my face sending shivers up my spine.
He was behind me the man I feared the most, He Was Chasing me with a razor sharp Chainsaw.......
Florence
As I crept to the door puzzled I opened the door there as a massive ugly room with frightening red
eyed sculptors staring at me there in front of me was a massive beast still I ever see the sun again
Paul
Terrified, confused and worried Me, Mackenzie, Sade and Anastasia walked slowly to the haunted house and the door slammed open! We walked in, and then Sade DISSERPEARED!!!!!
The three of us left walked very slowly and quietly and the Mackenzie DISSERPEARED!!!!! I and Anastasia started laughing our heads off. And then we stopped we looked up, it looked liked a massive heath and then Sade and Mackenzie fell from 100 feet. There neck broke us ran out you know why there neck went blue..... Because the vampire BIT THEM!!!!! Whoa!
Clare
I was so excited and amazed, I was also so appreciated that I was going to see Rihanna live in concert.
Rachel
Scared, lonely, terrified I sat still staring in to the darkness
Lauren
Amazed, amused excited I watched the tale bony man walk across the thin rope that was 50 foot in the air.
Anna
Exited, amazed and overjoyed they ran away to hide in hide and seek.
Frightened, terrified and petrified the children ran from the evil, ugly monster.
Horrified, shocked, puzzled, I watched as the villain took off his mask it turned out to be ... My brother.

Year 6 enjoyed using Google Earth this afternoon in ICT to discover what famous buildings/natural features could be found at different postcodes. They then learnt how to use the 'print screen' button to help insert aerial photographs of them to create some fabulous posters in PowerPoint:

To mark the 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible, Holy Trinity Church Parkfield and All Saint Church Rhodes will hold a ‘Bible Marathon’ on Saturday, 22nd of October. The reading will take place in both churches.
The undertaking is to read the whole of the Bible in one day, commencing at 9.00 am and finishing before midnight. The Bible will be divided into five parts, each part being read simultaneously, and readings will be from the New International Version.
Any money raised will go to The Bible Society and the Church Fund.
In order to achieve this challenge, the support of as many readers as possible is sought – adults and children welcome. A rota is being put together in 20 minute slots, and helpers are needed to read at least one slot in the day – more if possible.
Everybody who does some of the reading will be invited to sign a copy of the KJV Bible which will be kept in church as a historical record of the celebrations.
If you would like to volunteer to read at the Bible Marathon, please email Revd Marcia Wall at vicar@holytrinityparkfield.org.uk or vicar@allsaintsrhodes.org.uk or telephone the Vicarage on 0161 643 2512.
