Year 6 enjoyed trying out using the green screen this afternoon (which is actually grey but magically appears green on the video camera when a special light is shone on it).
We'll hopefully have lots of fantastic drama work made by the children to showcase over the next fortnight!
Year 5 enjoyed visiting the Museum of Science and Industry today to take part in workshop all about space. They used a range of models to investigate how the: Earth, Sun and Moon interact before entering the Planetarium to explore the sky at night and the solar system. They even managed to spend some time in Experiment!
Year 3 enjoyed investigating different soils this afternoon - they even learned how to sieve them to find out which had the smallest particles.
Year 3 enjoyed investigating how permeable different rocks are in their science lesson this afternoon. They had to add a droplet of water onto rock samples and then time how long it took for it to disappear (be absorbed).
Year 6 enjoyed working with a partner today to coach each other how to answer data handling questions.
We're collecting the Sainsbury Active Kids vouchers again this year - please put them in the box at the main entrance.
Our very effective school council have nominated the British Heart Foundation as our charity this year.
Every class has ‘made’ something special to try and raise money to support this very worthwhile cause.
We would ask that parents make a small donation to allow children to bring home their special gift.
Year 5 started their 'bikeability' lessons this afternoon to help them gain the skills and confidence to cycle in modern road conditions. http://www.dft.gov.uk/bikeability/
Our school council have recently purchased two bins - expect to see them on the playgrounds soon...
Year 3 created sets of instructions in PowerPoint this afternoon in ICT, illustrated with photographs they took in the previous lesson.
Year 5 enjoyed using PowerPoint this afternoon to present some information that they had researched about Shrove Tuesday on the Internet.
Year 6 enjoyed learning how to program their own Angry Birds-style games in ICT this afternoon using a program called Scratch. (You will need to download it from http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Scratch_1.4_Download if you want to play their games.)
The children enjoyed an assembly this morning promoting a new multi-sports, Olympics-themed after-school club that will be starting next week on Wednesday. One child even modelled all the prizes that those who attend could win!
A letter will be sent out later on this week with more information and pricing in.
