Easter Egg Hunt Photos

Everyone enjoyed hunting for eggs in the Friendship Gardens this afternoon to raise money for the PTFA - including the special golden eggs that meant you won a full-sized egg!

Two children from each class were also awarded with chocolate eggs for having decorated a cardboard egg too!

PTFA Meeting Reminder

This month's PTFA meeting will be held on: Wednesday 22nd February at 8pm at the Olde Boar's Head on Long Street.

Please come along and share any ideas you may have to help raise much needed funds for the children of Parkfield Primary School.

Valentine's Disco Photos

Lots of families had a fantastic time at the Valentine's Disco this evening, organised by the PTFA. They enjoyed: doing some groovy dancing, buying drinks at the bar and taking part in the raffle draws.

PTFA Request for Unwanted Gifts

Do you have any unwanted, unused Christmas gifts lying around? (not clothing)

If so, the PTFA would like to take them off your hands for future fundraising events to raise money for the children of Parkfield.

Please send any items into school with your child no later than Tuesday 7th February 2012.

Reception and Year 1 Bed Time Story Evening

Reception and Year 1 children enjoyed a lovely bed time story treat this evening. They listened to Wee Willie Winkie share some fun stories with them whilst drinking some hot chocolate and eating some delicious cookies!

Parkfield PTFA Thank You

The PTFA would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the last term.

We have had a successful Winter Fair and tea with Santa also the CD sales have been a huge success.

The children of Parkfield have enjoyed these events and also benefited from the proceeds with money donated to the cost of each child's ticket for Aladdin and having an ice-cream at the interval.

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 11th January at 8pm in the Old Boars Head on Long Street.

Tea with Santa

Lots of children enjoyed staying behind after school last night to have 'tea with Santa'. They were even given an early Christmas present from him!

• Kelly to look into PTFA bank account with Barclays.
• Discussed the winter fair success and confirmed totals raised £666 profit. A thank you to all that helped before, during, and after, and a special thank you to Mrs Tickle senior who donated all the proceeds from the card making stall and supplied the materials.  Also a thank you to Gill Danby from Barclay's bank that helped out on the stalls but also contacted her community liaison officer to match the total of the stalls she helped on. (£411) So over all profit is £1077.
• Parkfield Christmas CD went on sale from 5/12/11. Sales going well so far with 55 sold in three days. Will play the CD and sell at Christmas plays as well  but most important the kids enjoyed every minute of make the making and there was a real buzz atmosphere all day throughout the school. A cd is to be taken into Tesco as a thank you for the cd’s kindly donated by them.
• It was brought into discussion about the key stage 1 ‘Present from Santa’ and an all agreed vote ruled that the funds from the cd sale will enable the PTFA to provide the money for the gifts. Louise will price up the gifts Friday. 
• Tea with Santa has been a success once again with only 13 tickets still available, which we have no doubt will be sold before the day. Jodie (possibly Jodie’s mum Ruth) and Kelly to help out making the sandwiches in the morning and will ask Nichola and Wendy if they available on the morning? As many hands as possible needed for the actual event to ensure smooth running.
• For the Cinema event Kelly, Louise and Karen definite available for toilet breaks and interval. Set up of hall will require mats bean bags and chairs to stagger the height. The screen is set up by the company hired. This event is for year 2 and over. NO adult is required to accompany the child so as much help on night as possible needed. A hotdog, drink and treat is given with the price of the ticket and we will approach Sainsbury’s to see if buns and hotdogs could be kindly donated by them. Posters to be put up around school shortly.
• The Bedtime event will be for reception and year 1 children only. Will set up in year 2 classroom with twinkle lights, beanbags and cushions. A snack of cookies and warm chocolate drink is provided in the price of ticket. The children are encouraged to wear pj’s. children must be accompanied by an adult. Posters to go up shortly.
• A Fashion show will be held the term between February and Easter.  This event will be discussed in depth at the next meeting.
• A Family Valentines disco will be held on February the 10^th. Louise will approach the dj used for last year’s leaver’s prom. We will be applying for an alcohol license for this event. Jodie has contacts with JW Lees brewery so will see what they can kindly help with just nibbles of crisp and pretzels etc will be provided as the event will be between 6.30 and 8.30/9.00pm. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCUMPONIED BY A SUPERVISING ADULT
• A Sponsored Hike up Snowdon is happening 21^st April 2012. A minimum sponsor of £50 is required. A web page for donations will be linked to the school website. A possible regular training walk was discussed for Sundays but will be confirmed.
• Louise suggested a brick-a-brack event due to the success of the stall at the winter fair. This event will happen in the March time and will be finalized next meeting.
• The PTFA will take part in an assembly and discuss with  the children the events to come and show the new funds raised chart to be displayed in the playground for the children and parents to take pride in the amount they have raised to date. The totalizer was suggested by Catherine Horton in a previous meeting.
• Talk of what money should be raised for. Possible suggestion leaflet to be sent out to parents?
• For the month of January the meeting date will change (to the 11^th January) and a letter will be sent out in plenty of advance. This is only for January and will return to the first Wednesday of every month at 8pm in the Boars head each month after. At this meeting a chair, secretary and treasurer will be appointed.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS

• Separate production for whole school to audition for parts. Ticket event. DVD? - Ruth
• Local business that support our events, as good will, produce advertising leaflets at events etc?- Ruth
• Ruth went to the arena to check about the snack and they have said we cannot bring our own snack. A last minute decision has been made and we are going to buy each child an ice cream whilst there at £1per child.

Now That's What I call Christmas!

Each class recorded a popular Christmas song this morning which will be compiled together onto a CD for you to buy. At only £3 per CD it would make a great Christmas gift for someone!

Winter Fair 2011 Total

We made a total of £666 profit at the Winter Fair on Friday!

Thank you to all those who helped to organise and support this fantastic event.

Well done to Ray who run the reindeer and Emily who won one of the Christmas biscuit cakes. The winners of the hamper and another biscuit cake will be drawn at the infant nativity.

Everyone had a great time tonight at the Winter Fair. Children and their families enjoyed going on a range of stalls to raise money for the PPTFA, including: the chocolate and bottle tombolas, a make-your-own Christmas card activity, face painting and even a Wii Sports challenge! Thank you to everyone who helped to make the event such a success!

PPTFA Forfeit Reminders

Thank you so much for all the lovely: chocolate, pound shop prizes and Christmas items.

Just a quick reminder that next week the forfeit is a bottle.

Also starting on Monday 21st November we will be selling 50/50 draw envelopes in the playground after school. We could all do with a cash prize at this time of year!

AND

In December we will be having 'Tea with Santa' like last year (details and tickets will be available at the fair on Friday 25th November).

The tickets are limited and will be sold on a first served basis (we sold out last year).

Your Children Need You!

Your children need your help to make Parkfield's PPTFA a huge success!

The benefits to having a PPTFA are priceless and every penny we raise is used on extra activities, subsidising trips, school materials, new books - in fact anything that continues to develop and motivate our children. You all can contribute into giving our children at Parkfield opportunities they otherwise would not have.

We have some fantastic events lined up for this forthcoming year and need your help - to name but a few: a fashion show, a Valentine's disco and a sponsored walk.

Anything you could do to contribute or help would be amazing, we are not asking for a lot of time. Maybe you work for a company who could donate prizes or who culd sponsor Parkfield's PPTFA. If you have skills that you feel could help anything from baking to wrapping to selling raffle tickets. In fact, anything you feel would help make our events successful for your children.

Please contact the school office if you are willing to help out.

Winter Fair Forfeits

Winter Fair - Friday 25th November at 3:30pm in the school hall

In the lead up to the Winter Fair we will be having our usual 3 non-uniform days where the chidlren can come in their own clothes in exchange for a forfeit.

The forfeits this year are:

• Friday 11th November - Chocolate
• Thursday 17th November - Infants (£1 shop prize) and Juniors (a Christmas item - cards, wrap, decorations, crackers, pudding etc.)
• Friday 25th November - Bottle

NB: The second forfeit is a Thursday. Also, we have decided to split the forfeits with each Key Stage bringing something different. If you have already bought your £1 shop item (as advertised in the school newsletter) and you are in KS2 that's fine - just bring that.

• Helpers for collecting chocolate and labelling them up on the Friday morning are - Connor Devannay’s Mum, Kelly Porter, Becky and Charlotte to label chocolate and bag up. (Anyone else who can help would be appreciated)

• Stalls – The winter fairs stalls have been decided and most have been allocated.  A list will be put up in the staff room for staff volunteers.

• Wendy will get the tickets and match attacks.  Vicky and Jennette are making cakes for the refreshment stall.  Charlotte will write to various businesses to see if donations can be made. 

• 50-50 sales week beginning 21^st November, members of the PPTFA will go out onto the yard that week selling envelopes.

• Volunteers for the setting up of stalls – Plenty of volunteers for setting up on the day, which was greatly appreciated.

• Tea with Santa is to take place on 16^th December 2011.

• Mount Snowden – 21^st April 2011 – PPTFA members and staff are arranging a sponsored climb up mount Snowden.  A minimum sponsor of £50 will be needed.  Jane Steele will arrange minibus.  Louise Moorhouse is in touch with two mountain rescue people who will guide us.

Next meeting will be Friday 11^th November at 9am.

• Welcome to everyone.
• Representatives of the PPTFA to hand out flyers and explain what the PPTFA is all about. (31/11/2011) @ 2.45pm
• Would like to raise money and have a target bottle in the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 areas.
• Friday 16^th December Tea with Santa.
• Sell the tickets for Tea with Santa at the winter fair
• Raffle tickets sale start after half term.
• Wendy to send letters to local businesses regarding donations for raffle.
• PPTFA and staff to donate bric a brac for a stall at the winter fair.
• Next PPTFA meeting is on 4^th November to meet at 2.30pm.
• The members from St Thomas More PTFA gave us ideas on how they promote events and raise money to go towards the school.
• Advised us to get a ‘Bookers’ card ( Kelly Porter offered to enquire)
• Succesful events that they have been involved with are : Fashion Shoes, Fancy dress disco’s, Wee Willie Winkie story time, Ballon Race, Printed Christmas cards. And gave us a copy of the donation letter that they send out.
